Melt pressure sensors
OverviewThe M6 series of Gefran, are pressure transmitters for using in High temperature environment and specifically designed for melt pressure measurement and available only to be used in large-scale fixed installations or in large-scale stationary industrial tools, typically extruders, or for laboratory B2B equipments for R&D purposes according to the European Directive 2011/65/EU (see informative note RoHS II). The M6 Series has an improved digital readout utilizing an extra-large five-digit display. The M6 Series melt pressure gauge provides reliable, maintenance-free, localized pressure indication. The small capillary tube filled with a special medium isolates the gauge housing from potential thermal damage. |

The main characteristic of this series is the capability to read temperature of the media up to 400°C. The constructive principle is based on the hydraulic trasmission of the pressure. The fluid-filled system assures the temperature stability. The physical measure is transformed in a electrical measure by means of strain-gauge technology. |

The new Performance Level ‘c’ versions are the ideal solution for increasing the safety of extruders.
The Melt pressure filled sensors with an extensimetric technology are today enriched by new versions specifically designed to increase the safety level of machinery imposed by current international standards.
The PL 'c ' series in fact complies with the latest revision of standard EN1114-1 related to the safety requirements of the extruders with the new Performance Level 'c' version whose statement of conformity has been issued by the German certification body TÜV Rheinland.
This version features smart electronics with auto-diagnostics that detects all possible fault conditions. Additional safety is ensured by an integrated relay that changes state in case of over-pressures or passing of the set limit in conformity to the requirements of Namur NE21 and NE43.
The benefits are tangible and immediate: lower risks for operators, higher safety levels for the machinery (i.e. Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and Standard EN1114-1 compliance) and complete respect of the environment (i.e. the diathermic oil is a Food and Drug Administration approved substance as well as the NaK is a Generally Recognized As Safe substance).
